Chennai 600028 was not a fluke hit. Venkat Prabhu has a proved this point with his thriller Sa-ro-ja and has clearly shown how to make films with a fraction of the amount budgeted for a Superstar or a Universal Hero film.

Posted in Blog, Cinema on June 14, 2008 | 11 Comments »
Thanks to a delayed meeting, I missed the premiere of Dasavathaaram on Thursday night. Which also means I saved 300 bucks + good 5 hours of sleep. When Dasavathaaram was announced saying Kamal Haasan was the man in front of the camera, Tamil film audience were celebrating. They knew the movie was in safe hands. [...]

In case you have booked tickets for Kuruvi, try selling it off for atleast half the price. You’ll also save three hours of your time, twenty bucks on parking and a good hundred bucks on popcorn and coke.

Velli thirai on silver screen
Posted in Cinema on March 12, 2008 | 5 Comments »
Velli thirai is a perfect example of a very good script which has been badly translated into a film. Right from the voice over in the opening, which marks the history of cinema, there has been a sheer lack of an essential essence - life.
Sure shot

While every lead actor in Tamil cinema is vying for the Rajnikanth slot, slowly, steadily and silently one man is growing as the contender for the versatile Kamal Haasan.

Posted in Cinema on January 3, 2008 | 27 Comments »
Okay coming out of the Rajni’s Billa – Ajith’s Billa comparison, there is another movie, which is the sole reason behind the birth of these Billas. That’s Don.
If a movie turns to be a blockbuster, it’s very common for the movie to be remade into other languages or simply dubbed. This took the movie [...]
